- St. Mary's to Become an Oratory . . . What is an Oratory?
An option especially appropriate for small rural parishes would be to become an oratory affiliated with with a larger parish in a neighboring municipality.  All records and financial operations would transfer to the larger parish that would assume the responsibility for the oratory.  The weekend liturgies would be celebrated at the larger parish, but the oratory could be used for weddings, funerals or other occasional services.  Having an oratory, as opposed to closing a church, provides for a continuing Catholic presence in a rural area.

Do you have thoughts, questions, comments on the transition of St. Mary's to an oratory?  Do you feel the website should be continued? ---   Email sherri@cybersher.com   Some of your comments may be posted on this site

This effort is supported by the coalition of military chaplains and leaders

Recognizing that we are a special, unique creation of God, endowed
with gifts and talents and responding to God's constant
unconditional love of each person, St. Mary's will strive to discover
the gifts within our parish in order to put them at the service of our
families, parish, community and world.  We will do this through prayer,
education and enrichment programs.  We will attempt to be a loving,
caring community where everyone can find support and encouragement.
Therefore, we will be challenged to live our faith and grow in the love
of God and neighbor"
