St. Mary's Parish Council Meeting May 29th, 2007

The meeting began with a prayer led by President Larry Stiller.  Present were Jaco Rachwal, Cindy Wierzba, Sue Wierzbic, Jim Franz, Rose Stang, Father Bartnik and guest Randy Rachwal.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Rose Stang reported bible study was finished for the Summer
     

  • Cindy Wierzba reported catholic charities total was $22,427.97; 246 cards returned.
     

  • Sue Wierzbic reported that 80 families had registered for next year CCD.  This equals about 80 students.
     

  • Larry Stiller reported on the Mother's day breakfast.  About 80 ladies attended.  He also informed us that the Holy Name Society was awarding Shawn O'Dell $100.00 for presenting an essay in the Msgr. McGuire essay contest.  Larry will call Shawn about reading it in church at the next HNS Mass.  It will be put in the bulletin.
     

  • Father reported that plans for the annual chicken BBQ are going well.  Raffle returns are ahead of last year.  Posters are available.  He also said that our insurance will cover some of the cost of last year's ice removal/roof leak costs.  To insulate the roof to prevent a recurrence will cost the parish $1718.00.  A new ceiling for the kitchen is on the wish list.
     

  • Three and a half acres of property to provide a driveway to the camp Maryglen area will be sold to the new owners of the old camp site.  Steve Roth at the diocesan office is handling the sale.
     

  • Graves at the newest cemetery layout will be eleven feet long and 45 inches wide.
     

  • Charity breakfast planned for Sept. 30th
     

  • There are 2 submissions so far for the St. Mary's scholarship
     

  • Next meeting will be Sept. 24th
