St. Mary's Parish Council Meeting March 26, 2007

The meeting began with a prayer and a pledge of allegiance led by President Larry Stiller.  Present were Jacob Rachwal, Randy Rachwal-guest, Kathy Gier, Rose Stang, Sue Wiersbic, Jim Franz and Fr.. Bartnik

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Cindy Weirzbic reported that St. Mary's has collected $13,532.97 so far for Catholic Charities.  Cards received-156, cards yet to be received-128.
     

  • Lucille Kornacki is making a quilt for the July 15 chicken BBQ.  There will be two $50.00 drawings on father's day and 2 drawings on the say of the picnic $250.00 and $500.00.  Father is taking care of the tickets and posters.  Tickets will be in the church with name labels for people to pick up and sell. Rose will contact Lori Telaak about doing the theme baskets this year.  Harold Haier will take care of kitchen supplies.
     

  • The special collection for hall roof repairs, etc. brought in $1907.00.  The front steps of the church need attention.
     

  • The diocesan HNS board meeting is April 16.  All parishioners are invited whether a member or not.
     

  • St. Mary's scholarship for high school seniors is awarding up to $1000.00.  A school transcript, letter of acceptance to a college, and a letter of request to be considered are asked of those interested.
     

  • Religious Education:  The Confirmation retreat and commitment Mass went very well.  Our sincere thanks to the Holy Name Society for funding our snacks. The date of the confirmation is Monday, May 7 at 7:00 pm with Bishop Edward Grosz presiding.  The last day of classes for CCD will be Sunday, May 6, followed by a family Mass at 10:00 am and a social.  The season will conclude with First Communion which is scheduled for Saturday, May 13.  This is also the date of our May crowning --- Sue Wierzbic
     

  • Next meeting April 30

A motion by Jim Franz, seconded by Rose Stang to adjourn passed.
