St. Mary's Holy Name Society Meeting
October 15th, 2007

The meeting began with a prayer a led by President Larry Stiller at 7:00pm  There were 10 members present.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Treasurer Gary Gier reported a balance of $392.57

OLD BUSINESS:

  • 13 members attended the breakfast at ZJ's
     
  • This Saturday, a round and square dance will be held.  Larry and Joe Turello have been usually present helping with kitchen services, etc.  They leave around 10 pm.  Since the sportsmen will do the setup and the cleanup, the profits are split about 70/30.  Hall rental is graciously calculated on a sliding scale.
     
  • John Wittmeyer confirmed he will acquire turkeys for the turkey raffle.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • A meat raffle possibly in April has been proposed
     
  • A slinger advertising for new members will be put in the bulletin next week.
     
  • A motion to donate $50.00 to the youth group for a theme basket at the turkey dinner by Geo. Gates seconded by Ken Armstrong passed.
     
  • Maurie Dole described the charity work done on behalf of  poor people in Nicaragua sending clothing, kids toys and now a request for rice and beans.  It was suggested to make this a parish project rather than only the HSN
